About the Sponsorship Program
Our goal is to deliver positive outcomes for the regions surrounding our Borumba project. One of the ways this is achieved is through sponsorship activities.
The Queensland Hydro Sponsorship Program supports community and industry events in our project regions. Eligible events include one or more of the following goals:
- connecting, supporting and improving local communities close to our proposed projects
- supporting health, safety and wellbeing
- protecting or conserving the environment
- promoting education, training and upskilling
- advancing outcomes for First Nations people, and
- supporting local and regional economies.
For more information about eligibility and application requirements, read our Community Sponsorship Program application guide.
The Program is open on an ongoing basis and applicants can submit a request for sponsorship funding through the SmartyGrants platform.
We strongly encourage applicants to read through Queensland Hydro’s Community Benefits Framework prior to submitting a sponsorship application.

Sponsorship for the Decarbonisation Accelerated Summit
Queensland Hydro was proud to support the 2024 Decarbonisation Accelerated Summit hosted by the Greater Whitsunday Alliance (GW3) and Resources Centre of Excellence as a Tier 1 Collaborative Changemaker sponsor.
Hosted in Mackay as a first of its kind showcase event, the Summit brought together industry leaders, innovators, and visionaries to explore how decarbonisation will influence the Greater Whitsunday (Mackay, Isaac, Whitsunday) region and the new opportunities it will drive.
