Imbil medical centre marks one year of operation, expanding services for the community.
In its first year of operation, Imbil Medical Centre has supported 726 patients, reflecting strong support from the local community.

- Imbil residents can access GP, audiology, physiotherapy and psychology two days a week, each Tuesday and Thursday, close to home.
- Since opening on 27 February 2025, 726 patients have been seen at the practice.

Before the clinic opened in February 2025, residents needing non-urgent medical care may have needed to travel up to 30 minutes each way to see the nearest GP, following the closure of the previous clinic in 2023.
Strong demand has enabled the clinic to expand its services, with audiology, physiotherapy and psychology now available alongside general practitioner services. Bulk billing was introduced in November 2025.
The return of medical services to Imbil has been made possible through funding from Queensland Hydro, in partnership with local primary care network organistion, Country to Coast Queensland.
Queensland Hydro committed to covering three years of rent and utility costs for the clinic. The partnership coincides with the exploratory works phase of the proposed Borumba Pumped Hydro Project, located near Imbil.
Queensland Hydro Executive Chair Mark Irwin said the clinic’s success reflected strong local support.
“Reaching the one-year milestone is an important moment for Imbil Medical Centre and the community it serves,” Mr Irwin said.
“Townships like Imbil are the lifeblood of regional Australia and we’re proud to support services that help communities remain strong, healthy, connected and liveable.”
Country to Coast Queensland Chief Executive Julie Sturgess said the success and growth of GP services in Imbil strengthens the region’s primary healthcare network.
“Access to this local general practice helps the health of the community - people are able to seek care earlier and manage chronic conditions more effectively closer to home,” Ms Sturgess said.
“The expansion of services in Imbil reflects what’s possible when local communities, healthcare providers and partners like Queensland Hydro work together. It’s a powerful example of collaboration creating lasting, positive change for rural healthcare.”
Imbil Medical Centre Dr Jeff Lee said the return of local healthcare is already making a meaningful difference for residents.
Dr Lee said community response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many patients returning for repeat appointments and strong support for expanded services.
“We’re seeing many familiar faces coming back for ongoing care, which shows just how important local access to healthcare is for this community,” Dr Lee said.
“We’re also pleased to welcome a new doctor who will be increasing availability to three days per week.”
The increased staffing will further strengthen access to medical services for the Imbil region, reducing travel times for residents and supporting timely care close to home.
Imbil Medical Centre is currently open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30am to 4:45pm, with expanded days to be announced as the new doctor commences their regular schedule.
