Grants of up to $10,000 available to support initiatives that benefit communities.
Community groups can now apply for funding through the latest round of Queensland Hydro's Community Grants Program, with grants of up to $10,000 available to support initiatives that benefit communities near the proposed Borumba Pumped Hydro Project.
Since launching, the program has supported more than 25 local groups to deliver initiatives that make a positive difference in communities across the Gympie and Somerset regions.
Queensland Hydro CEO and Executive Chair Mark Irwin said the program was about backing the local organisations and volunteers who help communities thrive.

The program supports initiatives that strengthen community connection, support health and wellbeing, enhance environmental sustainability, and contribute to local tourism and economic development.
Applications are open to eligible organisations delivering initiatives within the Gympie and Somerset local government areas. Priority consideration will be given to initiatives that benefit communities closest to the proposed Project, including Kilcoy, Jimna, Imbil and the surrounding Mary Valley communities.
Funding recommendations are made by Queensland Hydro's Community Benefits Panel, which includes local community representatives and helps ensure local knowledge and community priorities are reflected in funding decisions.
Local Success Stories
Previous rounds of the Queensland Hydro Community Grants Program have supported a range of initiatives across the Gympie and Somerset regions, helping local organisations respond to community needs and deliver lasting benefits.
One recipient, the Mary Valley RSL Sub-Branch, received funding to support its Wellbeing Car Service, which helps veterans, their families and vulnerable community members access medical appointments and support services across the Gympie and Sunshine Coast regions.

Funding from the Program has also supported local organisations such as Big Bites for Little Bellies, which is establishing a food distribution hub in the Mary Valley to support school food programs across the region.
