Managing traffic and road impacts
Exploratory works for the Borumba Project involve vehicle movements associated with equipment and material deliveries, spoil removal and workforce transport.
Queensland Hydro’s priority is to manage traffic and road impacts safely and responsibly, with a focus on minimising disruption to local communities and ensuring the safety of all road users.
How traffic impacts are managed
Traffic and road impacts are assessed and managed through:
- a Traffic Impact Assessment
- a Road Use Management Plan
- defined haulage and access routes
- coordination with relevant road authorities
- ongoing monitoring and community feedback.
Access routes for heavy vehicles
The exploratory works access routes include:
- Northern Route – providing access to the main site via the Gympie and Imbil area
- Southern Route – providing access to the upper site via Kilcoy and surrounding roads.

Key traffic management measures
Key measures to minimise traffic impacts include:
- limiting heavy vehicles to approved routes
- managing vehicle movements near schools and peak periods
- reducing workforce vehicle numbers where possible
- promoting safe driving practices
- adjusting measures in response to community feedback and project needs.
