Five exploratory works packages awarded for Borumba Pumped Hydro Project.
Awarded between May and September 2024, these five additional packages will support the exploratory works phase.
Five packages have been awarded for the exploratory works phase of the Borumba Pumped Hydro Project.
The packages were awarded between May and September 2024.
With a combined value of $55 million, the packages will help prepare the proposed project site for the commencement of exploratory works, subject to regulatory approvals.
Queensland Hydro is currently seeking federal approvals for exploratory works under the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act).
The fives packages awarded are:
- Access roads designer – GHD Group Pty Ltd (awarded May 2024)
- Temporary bridge supply – Mabey Hire Pty Ltd (awarded July 2024)
- Establishment of survey control – Woolpert Australia Pty Ltd (awarded September 2024)
- Owner’s technical assurance (drilling/ underground) – Systra ANZ Pty Ltd (awarded September 2024)
- Owner’s technical assurance (geotechnical/ surface) – WSP Australia Pty Ltd (awarded September 2024)
The awarding of these packages means that the Borumba Project benefit from world-class expertise from Australia’s leading construction, engineering, advisory and technical experts.
The exploratory works phase will see Queensland Hydro undertake extensive surface and underground geotechnical works to better understand the project site. These packages will contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of those works by providing access, quality assurance and surveying services.
