Queensland Hydro appoints Chief Executive Officer

Queensland Hydro has named Kieran Cusack as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Queensland Hydro has named Kieran Cusack as its new Chief Executive Officer. 

Queensland Hydro Board Chair Paul Martyn said, “I’m pleased to announce Kieran Cusack has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Hydro to lead the company into the next phase.”   

“Kieran’s vast experience across electrical and heavy industrial infrastructure sectors will be instrumental as Queensland Hydro works to secure a clean energy future,” Paul said. 

"His unique experiences include operating hydro-electric power stations here in Australia as well as working in Fiji, the United States and Switzerland to deliver innovative and sustainable building solutions." 

Kieran joins Queensland Hydro from Snowy Hydro where he held several executive roles, including Project Director for the Snowy 2.0 pumped hydro scheme and General Manager of Generation Operations for Snowy Hydro’s hydro-electric power stations.   

“I’m honoured to be appointed Chief Executive Officer of Queensland Hydro and to be leading a dedicated team of industry specialists,” Kieran said. 

“This team is delivering two world-class projects that will transform Queensland’s energy mix and move us closer to achieving the state's net zero and renewable energy targets.” 

Kieran and Interim CEO Chris Evans are working together on a seamless leadership transition to ensure certainty and continuity for the Queensland Hydro team, community and stakeholders. 

Kieran joins Queensland Hydro on 5 June 2023 and will be based in Brisbane.
