Our ecologists are out and about.
Ecologists are out and about conducting research across our proposed Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Project site.
As part of the investigation phase, we have engaged aquatic and terrestrial ecologists to undertake surveys on the plants and animals that may be present across the proposed Pioneer-Burdekin Pumped Hydro Project site.
Our ecologists operate on both private and public land, conducting activities during daylight and nighttime hours, which can extend up to 11:00pm. They use various techniques, such as spotlighting to sight nocturnal animals, analysing water and soil samples, and employing cameras to monitor animals.
This work will be ongoing throughout 2024 to 2025.
Findings from these surveys will inform the Detailed Analytical Report. The information may also be used in the future to support applications for environmental approvals.
We welcome any additional data, reports, visual evidence or field studies by residents and environmental experts that help inform our understanding of local fauna and flora, including platypus populations. You can send through any information you have to the project team at: [email protected].
You can find out more about the work undertaken by our ecologists in the latest presentation provided to our Stakeholder Reference Group on 15 February 2024 here.
